Satopanth Swargarohini Trek

Package code: SST-2023

Description

According to Mahabharata, the mighty Pandavas traversed through Swargarohini to reach heaven. However, only the elder Pandava Yudhishthira accompanied by a dog, which was really a disguise of Yamraj was able to make their ascent to heaven. It is believed that Swargarohini is the only way by which one can reach heaven in his human form. At a distance of 38 km from Badrinath and 33 km from Mana, Swargarohini is a mountain range in the Saraswati Range of the Garhwal Himalayas. The Swargarohini trek is categorized as a moderate-grade trek, spanning almost 70 kilometers. On your way, you will pass through campsites and the scenic villages of Taluka, Panwani Gharat, Devsu Bugyal, and Gangar. Satopanth word is derived from two words - 'Sat-o' meaning truth, and 'Panth' meaning path or way. So its literal meaning is the path of truth. Satopanth Lake has three corners and each corner of Satopanth Lake is named after the divine Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. Many people believe that the Trimoortis, Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, bathe in the lake on an auspicious day. Also, some types of birds are found here, which pick up the pollutants of the lake and thus keep the lake clean. These birds are not found anywhere else, so the local belief is that they are the Gandharvas disguised, who guard the lake against evils. The Satopanth Tal trek is of the moderate-Difficult level. Always take an experienced guide with you for this trip.
